For a chemical giant in Geel, we are looking for a PROJECT MANAGER (M/V).

The project manager (PM) is ultimately accountable for all the projects of an assigned group of assets. The PM is responsible to properly manage the assigned project portfolio. He/She is the main point of contact for the owners of the assigned assets.
For large and complex site projects the PM can take the role as project lead and as discipline engineer.
The PM supports, coaches and supervises a pool of project engineers.


  • Ultimate accountability of all projects for the assigned group of assets.
  • Assure new project requests (non-production related) have the proper input quality; validate and calibrate the project initiation process in the assigned group with asset owner.
  • Adjust individual project priorities within the assigned portfolio in case of conflicts; align and adjust (if needed) own project portfolio priorities with site project portfolio priorities and department staffing in agreement with asset owners.
  • Manage the project portfolio for the assigned assets (functionality, scope, PEP, cost estimate).
  • Provide assurance that the selected project scope is the optimal solution for the project problem statement.
  • Provide assurance on project execution strategy (PEP, including schedule, procurement strategy), project hold points and milestone, from appraise till operate phase.
  • Provide assurance on portfolio budget, work breakdown structure and project costs of all project in the assigned assets.
  • Provide assurance to adequately manage project risks for the assigned portfolio: identify and mitigate project risks (safety, business, project,...).
  • Accountable for proper application of project change management.
  • Quality assurance of project flows and processes.
  • Provide continuous improvement input in project processes into the project service organisation.
  • Assure that projects are executed conform all applicable legal requirements and local standards; manage deviations.
  • Accountable to report timely status of project risk mitigation plans for the assigned portfolio.
  • Accountable to provide info to forecast schedule and cost and report KPI's for the assigned portfolio to the Project Services team.
  • Accountable for project change documentation, reporting and follow-up of any claims to 3rd parties.
  • Accountable to conduct project post-audits for the assigned portfolio (has project solved the problem).
  • Stakeholders management: Implement, organize and chair project coordination. meetings for the assigned portfolio.
  • Escalation management. Responsible for good communication with the customer, solve project mgt issues and assure proper escalation when needed.
  • Being aware and applies the International Trading Regulation rules concerning export control of technical documentation.
  • Provide assurance on the right competencies, staffing numbers and performance of IPT and engineering contractor for the assigned portfolio.
  • Assure right competencies and determine training needs of direct reports (PE).
  • Support the PE's.
  • Acts as the project lead for the more complex projects.
  • Can act as the project lead for less complex and smaller projects.
  • Can act as the descipline engineer for a project in the assigned project portfolio.
  • Manage the project resources for assigned portfolio; ensure project workload is in balance with the project & contractor staffing for the assigned portfolio.


  • Master degree or equivalent through experience
  • 10 year experience in project engineering are management
  • Knowledge in project execution and cost, schedule, scope control
  • Basic knowledge of SAP and Excel
  • Excellent management’s skills
